The rules of the road for using this website and applying for support.
The Coin Jar is a nonprofit organization based in Dallas, Texas, established in 2024. This website is operated by The Coin Jar. Where these terms say “we” or “us,” that is who we mean.
It exists to explain what we do, to let people give, and to let single mothers apply for help. You are welcome to read it, share it and link to it. Please do not use it to attempt to interfere with the site, to harvest other people’s information, or to send us anything unlawful.
Submitting an application does not create an entitlement to funds, and it is not a contract. We assess every application on what is available in the jar at the time and on the specifics of the need. We may say no, and we will tell you plainly when we do.
Please give us accurate information. We verify bills before paying them, and knowingly false information means we cannot help — not as a punishment, but because we are accountable to the people whose money we are holding.
Gifts are pooled and released against verified needs at our discretion, in line with our stated mission. A gift is not refundable once processed, although if something has plainly gone wrong — a duplicate charge, a wrong amount, a recurring gift you meant to cancel — write to us and we will put it right.
We are not able to give tax advice. If a gift’s tax treatment matters to you, please check with your own advisor.
Our coaching, budgeting and career sessions are offered in good faith by people with relevant experience. They are not financial, legal, tax or therapeutic advice, and they are not a substitute for a licensed professional. Decisions you make remain yours.
The words, illustrations, photography and design on this site belong to The Coin Jar or are used with permission. You may quote us with attribution and link to us freely. Please ask before reproducing the illustrations or using our name and marks in your own materials.
Where we link out — to a payment processor, a social account, a partner — we are not responsible for what happens on those sites. Their terms and privacy policies apply once you leave ours.
We will keep the site running as reliably as a small organization can, but we cannot promise it will never be down. If the application form is unavailable when you need it, please email us for assistance with submitting your application.
We may update these terms. The current version always lives on this page, and material changes will be dated at the top.
To the extent permitted by law, The Coin Jar is not responsible for losses resulting from reliance on general website information or calculators, interruptions in website access, or third-party websites. The calculators provide general estimates and are not financial advice.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Your use of this website is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
Tell us. We would rather rewrite a clause than have it sit there confusing people.
