The Coin Jar is governed by a volunteer board of women who know the arithmetic of a hard month. They read every application, decide every request for assistance, and answer for every dollar in the jar.

Amber founded The Coin Jar after her own years as a single mother showed her how narrow the margin can be — even with family nearby and a co-parent who showed up. She built the organization she would have wanted then.

Faith was raised by a single mother and watched the resilience, sacrifice and determination it takes to build a stable life while carrying a whole family. She went on to build a successful business, and brings that belief in perseverance and opportunity to the board.

A former single mother herself, Jen understands the constant pressure of balancing work, childcare and daily expenses. Her experience shaped the phrase the board keeps coming back to: a hand-up, not a hand-out.

Kathy was a single mom of two young girls for nearly 20 years. She had a strong family support system, and knows not every mom does. A retired health care sales director, she is deeply committed to helping single moms build the families they deserve.
“A hand-up, not a hand-out.”
A monthly gift is the one we can plan around. If you are a mother who needs help, the application takes a few minutes and a person reads every one.
